Air Duct & Dryer Vent Cleaning in Des Moines, WA
Duct and dryer vent cleaning in Des Moines, about 3 miles from Kent.
Down the hill from Kent
Des Moines runs along the Puget Sound shoreline about 3 miles west of Kent. We get there on Kent-Des Moines Road (SR 516), then follow Pacific Highway South (SR 99) or Marine View Drive to reach neighborhoods from the marina area south to Redondo. Saltwater State Park sits between the two.
Shoreline weather and what it does to vents
Homes close to the water get damp marine air nearly all year. Dryer vents are where that shows up. Warm, moist exhaust meets a cool vent line, and lint sticks to the walls of the duct instead of blowing out. Exterior hoods on the windward side of a house can also stay wet and collect lint around the flap.
If you live near the water in Des Moines, check your outside vent every few months. You should feel a strong flow of warm air while the dryer runs. Weak airflow usually means a clog somewhere in the line.
Bluff homes, ramblers and condos
The city has a broad mix of housing:
- Mid-century ramblers and split-levels on the flatter streets
- View homes stepped down the bluffs, often with daylight basements
- A large number of condos and apartment buildings near the highway and the water
In older single-family homes, the duct system may still be the original layout. Dust and debris tend to collect in the return trunk and near the furnace. In condos, long dryer vent runs through walls and ceilings are common and easy to forget about until drying times start to stretch.
Our Des Moines service
We look at the system first, explain what we see, and quote before we begin. Duct cleaning uses roto-brush tools and a HEPA-filtered vacuum on both supply and return lines. See dryer vent cleaning ($99 for up to 10 feet) and air duct cleaning ($199 for up to 10 vents) for what each includes.
